Description and Number of Deaths

1st death – Male, 68 years old. He entered the Sacadura Cabral UPA on March 18. He presented symptoms of the disease, which worsened due to comorbidities, and died on the same date;

2nd death – 63-year-old man. He died on March 28, in a private hospital in São Caetano. He had diabetes and obesity;

3rd death – 62-year-old man. He had a history of hypertension. He died on March 26 in a private hospital in São Bernardo, where he was admitted with fever and cough;

4th death – 81 year old man. He had chronic cardiovascular disease and was admitted to a private hospital in Santo André;

Coronavirus Time Solidarity – Covid-10

– Launch of the Sewing with Love program, which will convene seamstresses interested in producing masks. An action carried out by the Social Solidarity Fund aims to produce 300 thousand masks for people in social vulnerability;

– Receipt of donations in drive-thru format at the Santo André Social Solidarity Fund , from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 3 pm. Items will be delivered to families in socially vulnerable situations. The organization is located at Avenida dos Estados, 2.195, Santa Teresinha neighborhood. Donations can also be made, in the same drive-thru format, at Paço Municipal (Praça IV Centenário – Centro);

– Creation of the Special Fund to Combat Coronavirus. Account of the Social Solidarity Fund will be able to receive donations for the purchase of basic baskets and hygiene items. – Donation of 50% of Mayor Paulo Serra’s salary to the Special Fund to Combat Coronavirus;

– Start of the Merenda em Casa program on April 2nd. Students from the municipal school system started to receive kits with food and cleaning supplies due to the suspension of classes;

– Donation of basic food baskets for street vendors, taxi drivers and school transporters.

Population Awareness

– Circulation of sound cars to guide the population to stay at home, avoiding circulation on the streets;

– Creation of the telephone 0800 4848004 to answer questions about the coronavirus;

– Prevention Pit Stop: Tents at street fairs and bus terminals to raise awareness in the prevention of Covid-19. From Monday to Saturday, from 7 am to 7 pm, professionals give guidance on the coronavirus and wash the hands of passengers with alcohol gel.

Social isolation

– Resumption of municipal school activities from May 4, remotely;

– Extension until May 4 of the decree that restricts on-site activities in commercial establishments;

– Extension of park closures until May 4;

– Restriction of access to Vila de Paranapiacaba only for residents and professionals of essential services. Measure was adopted on April 18 and continues until May 10;

– Resumption of the Blue Zone from April 18. Collection was suspended for a period of one month;

– Suspension of exchanges for the Green Currency program;

– Launch of the Education at Home program, which provides complementary online activities for students in the municipal network, specially developed to be carried out during the period of suspension of classes. The content can be accessed at educacao.santoandre.sp.gov.br;

– Suspension of face-to-face service at the Ombudsman’s Office, which starts to answer only by e-mail [email protected] and telephone 4437-1150;

– Suspension of tests of public tenders by the Municipal Civil Guard and Education;

– Suspension of Craisa’s flower and ornamental fish market;

– City Hall Service Square was closed on March 23. Services are being offered over the internet;

– Suspension of face-to-face service at the Service Desk at Semas a headquarters ;

– Suspension of classes in the De Volta pra Sala project, by Semasa;

– Suspension of on-site technical assistance for Semasa’s environmental licensing;

– Suspension of cultural, sports, commercial, artistic and equipment activities such as the Museum of Santo André, Casa da Palavra, Library, Ludoteca, Sabina and Crisa (Reference Center for the Elderly of Santo André);

– Suspension of classes of professional courses at the Escola de Ouro Andreense, free schools of culture and other courses offered by the City Hall, such as those at Parque Escola, Caem (Multidisciplinary Educational Service Center), Nanasa (Adapted Swimming Center of Santo André) and the activities offered by Cesas;

– Recommendation to churches, temples, religious entities and institutions that bring together a large public that temporarily suspend meetings with crowds of people;

– Intensification of actions to ensure hygiene and awareness protocols, in addition to providing space for welcoming and social isolation for homeless people with suspected contamination by the new coronavirus;

– Closure of all Craisa restaurants (Santo André Regional Supply Company) , with the exception of the Executive building unit;

– Recommendation that condominiums and buildings located in Santo André prohibit the use of common areas, such as playrooms, swimming pools, fitness centers, sports courts (open or closed), playgrounds, barbecue grills, party room, games room, room meetings, among others;

– Reduced visits to inpatients in municipal hospitals, to control the flow of people;

– Postponement, indefinitely, of the 1st Regional University Congress: Challenges and Perspectives for the Sustainable Development of the Greater ABC, which was scheduled for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June. – Suspension of gratuity for students since March 23, to avoid unnecessary use of public transport;

– Inauguration of the Bruno José Daniel Stadium field hospital , with 120 beds, on April 29. With the 180 beds of the Pedro Dell’Antonia Sports Complex, opened on April 15, Santo André now has 300 beds for the exclusive care of patients with suspected or confirmed Covid-19. Another 100 vacancies will be opened in May, at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC);

– Humanized care at the Pedro Dell’Antonia Sports Complex field hospital, using video calls and badges with photos of health professionals, smiling;

– Launch of the Qualisaúde Santo André application, for the self-examination of Covid-19 . App is available for Android system and will be made available for iOS system in the coming days;

– Suspension of elective surgeries, to release ICU beds for the most severe patients;

– Community health workers are working in risk groups, visiting the elderly, pregnant women and the chronically ill;

– All schedules in Health Units and Polyclinics were canceled to meet spontaneous demands. General practitioners, pediatricians and gynecologists (mainly attending pregnant women), to provide immediate care to patients with suspected or confirmed Covid-19;

– Suspension of vacation of health workers for an indefinite period;

– Suspension of all elective consultations with specialists;

Cleaning and Solid Waste

– Trucks started to sanitize the main roads in the city on March 25, around bus terminals, train stations, health units and commercial corridors. Bom Prato Unit and POP Center receive daily washing services;

– Door to door collection – recyclable and damp waste – being carried out normally in the municipality;

– Operation of only eight collection stations in the city:

  • From Sunday to Sunday, from 7am to 12pm and from 1pm to 7pm
